La autora del estudio, Rebecca Chamberlain, quer\u00eda averiguar si los artistas, especialmente los artistas pl\u00e1sticos, ven el mundo de una manera diferente. Al menos hay una cosa clara: su cerebro s\u00ed es estructuralmente diferente.<\/p>\n<p>Chamberlain someti\u00f3 a 21 estudiantes de arte a un esc\u00e1ner denominado\u00a0Morfometr\u00eda Voxel\u00a0que calcula, a grandes rasgos, el volumen de las distintas \u00e1reas del cerebro. Despu\u00e9s lo compar\u00f3 con otras 23 personas que no se dedican a ninguna actividad art\u00edstica visual (dibujo, pintura&#8230;).<\/p>\n<p>El resultado es que el cerebro de los artistas muestra un desarrollo visiblemente mayor de la materia gris y la materia blanca en un \u00e1rea llamada Prec\u00faneo y en otras \u00e1reas del cerebro asociadas al procesado de im\u00e1genes y a la coordinaci\u00f3n motora.<\/p>\n<p>La gran duda es qu\u00e9 porcentaje de desarrollo es innato, y cu\u00e1l se debe al entrenamiento y a la experiencia en un \u00e1rea determinada del conocimiento. Al d\u00eda de hoy se ha demostrado que refinar nuestra t\u00e9cnica en un \u00e1rea concreta hace que el cerebro refuerce con el tiempo las conexiones en las \u00e1reas que procesan ese tipo de conocimiento. El estudio, al menos, ha servido para descartar la creencia popular de que los artistas tienen m\u00e1s desarrollado el hemisferio cerebral derecho.
