Desde entonces, mucho se ha aprendido acerca de los diferentes tipos de sangre. Sin embargo, su existencia misma permanece un misterio.<\/p>\n<p>En la actualidad, las trasfusiones de sangre salvan a miles de pacientes alrededor del mundo, pero durante gran parte de la historia esto se consideraba imposible.<\/p>\n<p>En la d\u00e9cada de 1870, varios m\u00e9dicos experimentaron con trasfusiones de leche con resultados desastrosos. Posteriormente, intentaron transferir sangre de ganado y otros animales sin \u00e9xito. En el siglo XIX, James Blundell experiment\u00f3 con trasfusiones de sangre humana, pero la mayor\u00eda de sus pacientes mor\u00edan al no ser compatibles con sus donadores.<\/p>\n<p>Landsteiner mezcl\u00f3 diferentes tipos de sangre en tubos de ensayo y observ\u00f3 que las c\u00e9lulas rojas se agrupaban, formando grumos. Separ\u00f3 los gl\u00f3bulos rojos del plasma y realiz\u00f3 diferentes combinaciones hasta hallar un patr\u00f3n. Descubri\u00f3 que la aglutinaci\u00f3n solamente ocurr\u00eda al mezclar ciertos tipos de sangre, la cual clasific\u00f3 en grupos A, B y C (posteriormente recibir\u00eda el nombre de O).<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_14360\" style=\"width: 269px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/seryhumano.com\/web\/?attachment_id=14360\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-14360\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14360\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14360\" src=\"https:\/\/seryhumano.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Tipos-de-sangre.jpg\" alt=\"Tipos de sangre\" width=\"259\" height=\"194\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-14360\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tipos de sangre<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Al juntar plasma del grupo A con c\u00e9lulas rojas de otra persona del mismo grupo, la mezcla permanec\u00eda l\u00edquida. Lo mismo suced\u00eda con el plasma y las c\u00e9lulas rojas del grupo B, pero al combinar el grupo A con el B la mezcla coagulaba.<\/p>\n<p>Las sangre tipo O reaccionaba diferente; si mezclaba c\u00e9lulas rojas de tipo A o B con el plasma O la mezcla se endurec\u00eda, pero pod\u00eda a\u00f1adir exitosamente plasma de tipo A o B con las c\u00e9lulas rojas tipo O.<\/p>\n<p>Algunos a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s, se descubri\u00f3 el grupo AB y a mediados del siglo XX el investigador estadounidense Philip Levine a\u00f1adi\u00f3 a la clasificaci\u00f3n de la sangre los s\u00edmbolos \u00ab+\u00bb y \u00ab-\u00bb para indicar si presentaba o no el factor Rh, una prote\u00edna integral de los gl\u00f3bulos rojos. Las trasfusiones \u00fanicamente funcionan cuando la sangre coincide con la del paciente, ya que si su sistema inmunol\u00f3gico no la reconoce responde atac\u00e1ndola, resultando en co\u00e1gulos letales.<\/p>\n<p>A pesar de las m\u00faltiples teor\u00edas, a\u00fan se desconoce por qu\u00e9 existen diferentes grupos sangu\u00edneos. Por lo tanto, propone que las personas en este grupo sangu\u00edneo incluyan la carne en su alimentaci\u00f3n.
