Fundado en 1979, entre los anteriores premiados con \u00e9l Una vita nella musica figuran Carlo Maria Giulini, Karl B\u00f6hm, Claudio Abbado, Andr\u00e9s Segovia, Daniel Barenboim, Carlo Bergonzi, Gidon Kremer, Aldo Ciccolini, Myung-Whun Chung, Salvatore Sciarrino, Yuri Temirkanov o Arthur Rubinstein.<\/p>\n<p>Tate -nacido con espina b\u00edfida- estudi\u00f3 medicina antes de decidirse profesionalmente por la m\u00fasica. Aunque ya tocaba el piano, fue tras licenciarse en 1969 cuando inici\u00f3 sus estudios de direcci\u00f3n de orquesta, principalmente en el Opera Center de Londres y como &#8216;repetidor&#8217; en el Covent Garden, lo que le di\u00f3 la oportunidad de trabajar con George Solti (entonces director de la ROH), y otros importantes directores del momento. Su primera \u00f3pera internacional fue Carmen con la \u00d3pera de Gotemburgo (1978) y posteriormente dirigi\u00f3 en el Met de Nueva York, donde se hizo famoso en 1980 al sustituir a James Levine en el \u00faltimo momento en una \u00f3pera tan dif\u00edcil como Lul\u00fa de Alban Berg.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/seryhumano.com\/web\/?attachment_id=22326\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-22326\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-22326\" src=\"https:\/\/seryhumano.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Jeffrey-Tate-e1462032653243.jpg\" alt=\"Jeffrey Tate\" width=\"500\" height=\"202\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Entre 1985 y 2000 fue director de la English Chamber Orchestra, con la cual realiz\u00f3 numerosas grabaciones. Simult\u00e1neamente, entre 1989 y 1998 fue Principal Director Invitado de la Orchestre National de France. En 2005 fue nombrado Director Musical del Teatro San Carlo de N\u00e1poles, donde permanci\u00f3 hasta 2010.
