Verdi, con 80 a\u00f1os, compuso <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=kFDYgvZWKtg\"><strong><u>Falstaff<\/u><\/strong><\/a>, una de sus mejores \u00f3peras. Picasso sigui\u00f3 trabajando de modo incansable pr\u00e1cticamente hasta el d\u00eda de su muerte.<\/p>\n<p>Hay muchos m\u00e1s referentes de famosos longevos que dieron guerra hasta el final. Como el franc\u00e9s St\u00e9phane Hessel, que con 93 a\u00f1os escribi\u00f3 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.casadellibro.com\/libro-indignaos\/9788423344710\/1830213\"><strong><u>\u00a1Indignaos!<\/u><\/strong> <\/a>(Destino, 2011), que tanta repercusi\u00f3n tuvo en la sociedad, especialmente entre los j\u00f3venes, y cuyo pr\u00f3logo escribe el abanderado del movimiento 15-M, Jos\u00e9 Luis Sampedro, escritor y economista que muri\u00f3 a los 96 a\u00f1os; o la superviviente m\u00e1s longeva de los campos de exterminio nazi, Alice Herz-Sommer, que vivi\u00f3 110 a\u00f1os y nunca dej\u00f3 de tocar el piano. El arquitecto brasile\u00f1o Oscar Niemeyer sigui\u00f3 en activo siendo centenario; la bailarina Martha Graham realiz\u00f3, con 90 a\u00f1os, la coreograf\u00eda de La Consagraci\u00f3n de la Primavera, de Stravinski; la cient\u00edfica italiana Rita Levi-Montalcini, Premio Nobel de Medicina, sigui\u00f3 investigando con 100 a\u00f1os; o el portugu\u00e9s Manoel de Oliveira, director y productor de cine, que muri\u00f3 el a\u00f1o pasado a los 106 a\u00f1os, rod\u00f3 un a\u00f1o antes su \u00faltima pel\u00edcula. Incre\u00edble, \u00bfno?<\/p>\n<p>Seg\u00fan la fil\u00f3loga y coach Gloria M\u00e9ndez, no hace falta poseer cualidades especiales para tener una vida plena: \u201c<em>Es totalmente democr\u00e1tico, no hay excepciones. El psiquiatra Jes\u00fas Fraiz ha recopilado a lo largo de m\u00e1s de 20 a\u00f1os de estudio una base de datos documental de aproximadamente 6.000 famosos centenarios.<\/p>\n<p>A la pregunta de cu\u00e1l es el secreto de vivir una larga vida, Fraiz responde que, aunque influyen los h\u00e1bitos de vida saludable, la gen\u00e9tica y la medicina, lo m\u00e1s com\u00fan en todos ellos es la resiliencia (capacidad de sobreponerse), mantenerse activo el m\u00e1ximo tiempo posible, el optimismo y un fuerte sentido del prop\u00f3sito en sus vidas. \u201c<em>Hay gente que a los 70 a\u00f1os comienza a pintar, escribir, hacer fotograf\u00eda, pasear por el campo\u2026 Tiene que ver con las inquietudes. Muchos se mueren porque no saben disfrutar. Y despu\u00e9s hay casos de gente a la que le toca vivir situaciones tremendas y, sin embargo, logra salir adelante como los centenarios que he investigado y que estuvieron en campos de concentraci\u00f3n. La sola esperanza de salir de all\u00ed era un acicate para ellos. Y quienes son espiritualmente ricos y no temen el paso del tiempo, y dejan ir con elegancia todo aquello que los a\u00f1os se llevan consigo.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UN CASO POCO COM\u00daN<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cuando el psiquiatra Jes\u00fas Fraiz visit\u00f3 al menorqu\u00edn Joan Riudavets, que con 114 a\u00f1os ostentaba entonces el r\u00e9cord de ser la persona m\u00e1s longeva del planeta, esperaba encontr\u00e1rselo postrado en la cama. Sin embargo, estaba sentado frente a una mesa camilla leyendo el peri\u00f3dico y pidi\u00f3 ponerse la chaqueta para la foto (no quer\u00eda salir en bata). Le cont\u00f3 que a los 90 a\u00f1os los m\u00e9dicos dudaron si ponerle un marcapasos, al final se lo implantaron. Diez a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s tuvieron que cambiarle la pila, y una vez m\u00e1s a los 110.
