Un a\u00f1o antes, Bastenier fich\u00f3 como subdirector por El Peri\u00f3dico de Catalunya, donde ejercer\u00eda tres a\u00f1os, hasta su llegada a EL PA\u00cdS, un diario al que quedar\u00eda vinculado hasta su muerte. En \u00e9l desempe\u00f1\u00f3 cargos como los de subdirector de Informaci\u00f3n y subdirector de Relaciones Internacionales hasta 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Paralelamente ejerci\u00f3 de profesor de periodismo internacional en la Escuela de Periodismo de EL PA\u00cdS, desde donde form\u00f3 a varias generaciones de periodistas que hoy desempe\u00f1an su labor en todo tipo de medios en todo el mundo. Tambi\u00e9n fue profesor en la Fundaci\u00f3n Nuevo Periodismo Latinoamericano de Cartagena de Indias.<\/p>\n<p>En sus \u00faltimos a\u00f1os Bastenier segu\u00eda colaborando con la secci\u00f3n de Opini\u00f3n del diario como editorialista y columnista. Su \u00faltima columna la public\u00f3 el lunes, y en ella alertaba del riesgo de los extremismos en Europa a pesar de la victoria de un candidato moderado en la primera ronda de las elecciones francesas del domingo.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_25506\" style=\"width: 560px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/seryhumano.com\/web\/miguel-angel-bastenier-maestro-periodistas\/miguel-angel-bastenier\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-25506\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-25506\" class=\"size-full wp-image-25506\" src=\"https:\/\/seryhumano.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/miguel-angel-bastenier-e1493563567464.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"550\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-25506\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Miguel \u00c1ngel Bastenier<br \/>Foto: EFE en espa\u00f1ol<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Estudi\u00f3 Historia en la Universidad de Barcelona y Periodismo en la Escuela Oficial de Periodismo de Madrid, pero en sus muchos a\u00f1os de profesi\u00f3n siempre defendi\u00f3 que donde se aprend\u00eda de mejor manera era en la redacci\u00f3n de un diario. Su oficio y su experiencia le hicieron experto sobre todo en dos asuntos: el conflicto \u00e1rabe-irael\u00ed y Am\u00e9rica Latina, campos en los que era una referencia a nivel mundial.<\/p>\n<p>Al periodismo le dedic\u00f3 dos libros que se emplean en las universidades: <strong><em><u>El blanco m\u00f3vil <\/u><\/em><\/strong>(Aguilar, 2001) y <strong><em><u>C\u00f3mo se escribe un peri\u00f3dico<\/u><\/em><\/strong> (Fondo de Cultura Econ\u00f3mica de Espa\u00f1a, 2009).
