Mediante la acumulaci\u00f3n de unas im\u00e1genes meticulosamente construidas _ la facilidad con la que \u201cel agua fresca recorre las ca\u00f1er\u00edas\u201d y \u201clas aguas residuales se alejan en un instante de olvido \u00a0_ \u201cexperimentamos \u00a0su euforia y saltamos a un d\u00eda en la vida y la mente de un exitoso hombre de mediana edad.<a href=\"https:\/\/seryhumano.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/S\u00e1dado2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-283\" title=\"S\u00e1dado\" src=\"https:\/\/seryhumano.com\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/S\u00e1dado2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"207\" height=\"243\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sin embargo, un augurio, en forma de cometa _en realidad, un avi\u00f3n envuelto en llamas_ se cruza en el campo de visi\u00f3n de Perowne y frustra\u00a0 sus expectativas de un merecido d\u00eda de descanso al recordarle el 11 de septiembre y el terror que se apoder\u00f3 \u00a0de los cielos. Mientras se dirige a jugar a squash y hacer unas compras para una cena familiar, su auto golpea el retrovisor de un BMW y su vida y la de otro conductor_ un mat\u00f3n con una enfermedad del cerebro que tan solo un neurocirujano reconocer\u00eda_ \u00a0quedar\u00e1n unidas. Baxter y su siniestro amigo volver\u00e1n para aterrorizar a la familia Perowne durante la noche.
