Estudi\u00f3 en la Universidad de Viena, de la que fue profesor entre 1913 y 1938. Emigr\u00f3 de su pa\u00eds, primero a Suiza, donde imparti\u00f3 clases en el Institute of International Studies, y posteriormente a M\u00e9xico, donde fue profesor en la Universidad Nacional durante el a\u00f1o de 1942.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Poco despu\u00e9s emigr\u00f3 a los Estados Unidos, pa\u00eds cuya nacionalidad adopt\u00f3 en 1946. Miembro del National Bureau of Economic Research, imparti\u00f3 tambi\u00e9n clases de Econom\u00eda en la Universidad de Nueva York entre los a\u00f1os 1945 y 1969.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perteneciente a la denominada Escuela austriaca, defendi\u00f3 el liberalismo econ\u00f3mico frente al socialismo y a la intervenci\u00f3n del Estado en la vida econ\u00f3mica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En 1912 public\u00f3 <strong>Teor\u00eda del dinero y el cr\u00e9dito<\/strong> (1912), en la que asign\u00f3 al dinero un precio determinado, al igual que cualquier otro bien, por la oferta y la demanda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Esta misma obra recoge sus teor\u00edas sobre los ciclos econ\u00f3micos: seg\u00fan Mises, el ciclo se produce por la ideolog\u00eda inflacionista de los bancos centrales que, al igual que los pol\u00edticos y los hombres de negocios, prefieren mantener bajos los tipos de inter\u00e9s de manera artificial, con el consiguiente exceso de inversiones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En 1922 public\u00f3 su segundo trabajo importante, <strong>Socialismo<\/strong>, en el que predijo la ruina de dicho sistema como consecuencia de la ausencia de precios, y en el que asimismo critic\u00f3 la intervenci\u00f3n estatal por la alteraci\u00f3n que produc\u00eda en los mismos y en consecuencia en la correcta asignaci\u00f3n de los recursos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u><a href=\"Socialismo: La farsa del s.
