Nabot le respondi\u00f3 a Ajab: \u201c<em>Dios me libre de darte la herencia de mis padres\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ajab se fue a su casa, triste y enfurecido, porque Nabot le hab\u00eda dicho: \u201c<em>No te dar\u00e9 la herencia de mis padres<\/em>\u201d. Se acost\u00f3 en su cama, se volvi\u00f3 de cara a la pared y no quiso comer. Entonces se le acerc\u00f3 su esposa, Jezabel, y le dijo: <em>\u201c\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 est\u00e1s de mal humor y no quieres comer?<\/em>\u201d \u00c9l respondi\u00f3: \u201c<em>Es que habl\u00e9 con Nabot de Yezrael y le dije que me vendiera su vi\u00f1a o que, si prefer\u00eda, yo se la cambiar\u00eda por otra mejor; pero \u00e9l me respondi\u00f3 que no me dar\u00eda su vi\u00f1a<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Su esposa Jezabel, le dijo: <em>\u201c\u00bfNo que t\u00fa eres el rey poderoso que manda en Israel? Lev\u00e1ntate, come y al\u00e9grate. Yo te dar\u00e9 la vi\u00f1a de Nabot<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Entonces ella escribi\u00f3 unas cartas en nombre de Ajab, las sell\u00f3 con el sello del rey y las envi\u00f3 a los ancianos y hombres principales de la ciudad en que viv\u00eda Nabot. Las cartas dec\u00edan: \u201c<em>Promulguen un ayuno, convoquen una asamblea y sienten a Nabot en primera fila. Pongan frente a \u00e9l a dos malvados que lo acusen, diciendo: \u2018Ha maldecido a Dios y al rey\u2019. Luego lo sacan fuera de la ciudad y lo apedrean hasta que muera<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los habitantes de la ciudad, los ancianos y los hombres principales que viv\u00edan cerca de Nabot, hicieron lo que Jezabel les hab\u00eda mandado, de acuerdo con lo escrito en las cartas que les hab\u00eda remitido. Promulgaron un ayuno y en la asamblea sentaron a Nabot en primera fila. Llegaron los dos malvados, se sentaron frente a \u00e9l y lo acusaron delante del pueblo, diciendo: \u201c<em>Nabot ha maldecido a Dios y al rey<\/em>\u201d. Luego lo sacaron fuera de la ciudad y lo apedrearon hasta que muri\u00f3. En seguida le mandaron avisar a Jezabel que Nabot hab\u00eda muerto apedreado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cuando Jezabel supo que Nabot hab\u00eda muerto apedreado, le dijo a Ajab: \u201c<em>Ve a tomar posesi\u00f3n de la vi\u00f1a de Nabot de Yezrael, que no quiso vend\u00e9rtela, pues Nabot ya no vive: ha muerto<\/em>\u201d. Apenas oy\u00f3 Ajab que Nabot hab\u00eda muerto, fue a tomar posesi\u00f3n de la vi\u00f1a de Nabot de Yezrael.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>EVANGELIO DEL D\u00cdA<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Lectura del santo evangelio seg\u00fan san Mateo<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mt 5, 38-42<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En aquel tiempo, Jes\u00fas dijo a sus disc\u00edpulos: \u201c<em>Ustedes han o\u00eddo que se dijo: Ojo por ojo, diente por diente; pero yo les digo que no hagan resistencia al hombre malo. Si alguno te golpea en la mejilla derecha, pres\u00e9ntale tambi\u00e9n la izquierda; al que te quiera demandar en juicio para quitarte la t\u00fanica, c\u00e9dele tambi\u00e9n el manto. Si alguno te obliga a caminar mil pasos en su servicio, camina con \u00e9l dos mil. Al que te pide, dale; y al que quiere que le prestes, no le vuelvas la espalda\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>PALABRAS DEL SANTO PADRE<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Consideremos en primer lugar ese sentido de injusticia que advertimos en el \u201c<em>poner la otra mejilla<\/em>\u201d. Y pensemos en Jes\u00fas. Durante la pasi\u00f3n, en su injusto proceso delante del sumo sacerdote, en un momento dado recibe una bofetada por parte de uno de los guardias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00bfY \u00c9l c\u00f3mo se comporta? No lo insulta, no, dice al guardia: \u00ab<em><u>Si he hablado mal, declara lo que est\u00e1 mal; pero si he hablado bien, \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 me pegas<\/u><\/em>?\u00bb (Jn 18,23).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Pide cuentas del mal recibido. Poner la otra mejilla no significa sufrir en silencio, ceder a la injusticia.<\/u><\/strong> Jes\u00fas con su pregunta denuncia lo que es injusto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pero lo hace sin ira, sin violencia, es m\u00e1s, con gentileza. No quiere desencadenar una discusi\u00f3n, sino desactivar el rencor, esto es importante: apagar juntos el odio y la injusticia, tratando de recuperar al hermano culpable.
