El trabajo, elaborado por la Universidad de Bradford y publicado en &#8216;Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences&#8217; (PNAS), arroja as\u00ed nuevos datos sobre las causas de la muerte estos ni\u00f1os, hallados en 1999 en unas tumbas de piedra en Argentina<\/p>\n<p>La mayor tiene unos 13 a\u00f1os y es conocida como la &#8216;doncella de hielo&#8217;, porque muri\u00f3 de fr\u00edo en los Andes, en donde fue abandonada como sacrificio. Su cuerpo se encontr\u00f3 con las piernas cruzadas, con la cabeza ca\u00edda hacia adelante y las manos apoyadas en el regazo. Llevaba un tocado de plumas sobre su cabello bien trenzado y hab\u00eda hojas de coca entre los dientes, junto a su mejilla.<\/p>\n<p>Los expertos han indicado que pudieron ser sacrificados en una ceremonia llamada &#8216;capacocha&#8217;, un ritual que utilizaba para infundir miedo entre la poblaci\u00f3n y que ayudaba al control de los mandatarios de\u00a0\u00a0un imperio Inca en r\u00e1pida expansi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>El an\u00e1lisis del cabello de los ni\u00f1os, que todav\u00eda contiene huellas qu\u00edmicas de su dieta, muestra que los tres fueron &#8216;tratados&#8217; con drogas y\u00a0\u00a0alcohol desde meses antes de morir.
