Pero si para ello es necesario… Es un ideal por el\u00a0que estoy preparado a morir\u00bb. \u00c9stas fueron sus declaraciones, desde el mismo banquillo de los acusados en el\u00a0Proceso de Rivonia<\/b>, que llevar\u00eda a\u00a0Mandela\u00a0<\/b>a ser\u00a0encarcelado durante casi tres d\u00e9cadas\u00a0<\/b>por el r\u00e9gimen del apartheid.<\/p>\n

Entrevista que concedi\u00f3\u00a0Nelson Mandela\u00a0<\/strong>a distintos medios de comunicaci\u00f3n nacionales e internacionales al salir de prisi\u00f3n en febrero de 1990. El mandatario sudafricano cumpli\u00f3\u00a027 a\u00f1os de condena\u00a0<\/strong>de lo que ten\u00eda\u00a0que ser una cadena perpetua. Las presiones internacionales fueron una constante durante los casi 30 a\u00f1os de encarcelamiento, que terminaron con la definitiva puesta en libertad del l\u00edder ‘anti-apartheid’.<\/p>\n

Desde que sali\u00f3 de la c\u00e1rcel,\u00a0Mandela\u00a0<\/strong>se\u00a0pase\u00f3 por el mundo recogiendo premios y distinciones. Pero el m\u00e1s importante, sin lugar a dudas, fue el\u00a0Premio Nobel de la Paz<\/strong>,\u00a0que recibi\u00f3 el 11 de diciembre de 1993 junto a su rival pol\u00edtico pero compa\u00f1ero de transici\u00f3n, Frederik W. de Klerk<\/a>.\u00a0Mandela\u00a0<\/strong>dijo de\u00a0Frederik<\/strong>\u00a0De Klerk\u00a0<\/strong>que \u00abtuvo el coraje de admitir la terrible equivocaci\u00f3n que se hab\u00eda hecho en nuestro pa\u00eds\u00bb, y de Sud\u00e1frica que \u00abdebe determinar qu\u00e9 es lo que quiere hacer con su futuro\u00bb.<\/p>\n

\u00abDEJEMOS QUE REINE LA LIBERTAD\u00bb<\/strong><\/p>\n

10 de mayo de 1994. Cuatro a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s de ser puesto en libertad, y tras imponerse en las urnas con m\u00e1s del 60% de los votos,\u00a0Mandela\u00a0<\/strong>es elegido presidente de\u00a0Sud\u00e1frica<\/strong>. Durante el discurso que acompa\u00f1\u00f3 el acto de investidura, el l\u00edder sudafricano destac\u00f3 el papel de las fuerzas de seguridad como garantes de la transici\u00f3n y manifest\u00f3 su voluntad de aprovechar esa \u00abexperiencia de un desastre humano que dur\u00f3 demasiado, como fue el ‘apartheid’<\/strong>\u00ab.<\/p>\n

Ya hab\u00eda dejado la pol\u00edtica, pero segu\u00eda haciendo m\u00edtines por el mundo. En esta ocasi\u00f3n en la\u00a0Trafalgar Square\u00a0<\/strong>de\u00a0Londres<\/strong>, el 3 de febrero del 2005, ante m\u00e1s de 20.000 personas. En v\u00edsperas de la reuni\u00f3n del\u00a0G-7\u00a0<\/strong>que albergaba la capital brit\u00e1nica,\u00a0Mandela\u00a0<\/strong>exigi\u00f3 ayudas a la lucha contra la pobreza a los representantes pol\u00edticos: \u00abYo les digo a esos l\u00edderes: no mir\u00e9is a otra parte, no dud\u00e9is. Reconoced que el mundo est\u00e1 hambriento de acciones, no de palabras. Actuad con valent\u00eda y visi\u00f3n\u00bb.<\/p>\n
